Pearland mayor Tom Reid handily defeated opponent Quentin Wiltz to continue to lead a city that has experienced significant growth and changes during a tenure totalling 22 years.

Reid walked away with the election after garnering 59.37 percent of the vote – a trend that proved to be a continuation of Reid’s early voting totals, during which the mayor secured 62 percent of the vote.

Voter turnout was at a record high for Pearland, bringing in nearly 8,000 residents for the runoff alone and Reid, 91, remains one of the oldest and longest-term city elected official in the region.
