Update on 288 Toll Road Expansion

288-map

The SH 288 expansion will include three major interchanges:

  • Beltway 8, which will include (8) direct connector/ramp bridges
  • Loop 610, which will include (8) direct connector/ramp bridges
  • The Texas Medical Center, which will include (2) direct connector/ramp bridges

These improvements encompass a 10.3-mile stretch from US 59 to the Harris County line at Clear Creek. Between the addition of toll lanes and the improved functionality of these interchanges, traveling on SH 288 will be more direct and easier than ever before.

Construction will begin in Fall 2016 and is expected to last until Q2 2019. We are committed to working with the impacted community who live, work and travel on SH 288 on a regular basis, so check back for construction updates, affected traffic areas and alternate routes.

Goals for SH 288 and all existing freeway interchanges to be impacted (Loop 610, SH 288, Beltway 8, Mainline Bridges, and the Texas Medical Center):

  • Management of traffic/traffic stages
  • Building of new interchanges, managing traffic movements at all times
  • Remove existing bridges while maintaining traffic flow
  • Preservation of railway right of way
  • Coordination with Beltway 8 Project/HCTRA
  • Coordination with City of Pearland
  • Establishing access points to and from a live highway
  • Widening of existing bridges
  • Working in a confined environment
