Pearland PD begins Citizen Police Academy Class on Feb. 2

On February 2nd 2017 Pearland Police Department will start its 44th class of the Citizens Police Academy (CPA). This is a free community policing initiative aimed at educating the public on the operations of Law Enforcement. The 3 main goals of our program are to allow the citizens of Pearland to meet the men and women who serve them, to provide the Pearland Officers an opportunity to meet and hear from the citizens they serve, and to educate the citizens of the “how’s” and “why’s” of Law Enforcement.

A minimum age requirement of 18 years is implemented with the exception of 17 if attending with a family member.

This class will last 10 instructional weeks with a graduation ceremony on the 11th week. The class meets regularly on Thursday nights from 7pm to 930pm.

Topics of instruction vary from class to class but the students generally learn about patrol functions, Investigations, traffic stop simulations, and building searches. Additionally, the students are afforded opportunities at ride-a-longs and learn a variety of crime prevention techniques to help reduce the potential of crime in their home and while out.

To register please visit www.pearlandpd.com or email jevans@pearlandtx.gov. A direct link to apply for the class is posted below. Class space is limited so sign up soon.
