pgclogoPRESS RELEASE

The Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the City of Pearland Parks & Recreation Department have been awarded the bid for the 2018-2019 Winter Games of Texas, sanctioned by the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF). The City of Pearland has been a member city of TAAF for 5+ years, and hosting the Winter Games will allow Pearland to further establish itself within this statewide organization.

The vision for the first time sporting partnership is to bring visitors to Pearland in support of the Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau mission, which is to promote and coordinate tourist related activity within the City of Pearland.

The Pearland Golf Club at Country Place is proud to host the 2018 Golf Tournament for the Winter Games.

The announcement was made on Tuesday (October 18) at the Parks and Rec Center in the company of TAAF, Parks & Rec and CVB officials, as well as City dignitaries, including City Manager Clay Pearson, Deputy City Manager Jon Branson and Assistant City Manager Trent Epperson.

Funding for the event will be handled through a collaborative partnership between the Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau and the City of Pearland Parks & Recreation, along with sponsorships and event revenue. There is an estimated economic impact of $1.5 million to the local Pearland economy.
