Pearland Crawfish Festival Promises Good Times For All

PCF_Logo_headerIt’s almost time for the Pearland Crawfish Festival, sponsored by the Pearland Convention and Visitors Bureau! The party will start on Friday April 10 and will continue through Sunday April 12.

This year, the Festival will take place in the field next to Pearland Parks & Recreation, located at 4141 Bailey Rd. Parking will be off-site for $5 per vehicle and shuttles will be provided to avoid any traffic congestion.

Bob Fuldauer with event producer Turn To Productions, LLC says that this year will be the best yet. “Last year, there was a problem with the crawfish lines because we ran out. That was my fault. I knew there was an 80% chance of rain and didn’t expect so many people to come out! We have remedied any chance of that happening this year with insuring the crawfish,” he said.

Yes, even crawfish can be insured.

Fuldauer added that the Parks and Rec grounds are even more spacious than the areas used previously. “We’ll have more than enough room,” he said.

This year’s beneficiaries are the Pearland ISD Education Foundation, Forever Parks Foundation of Pearland, Pearland Arts Organizations and The Houston Blues Society.

Scheduled entertainment includes the Zydeco Dots, Angry Sausage, Lance Lopez, San Bound Texas, Al White, Darbi Shaun, Benastar, Dem Roots Band, Randy Meadows Band, Cecil Shaw, BonTon Mickey, The Feel, Fidelity Maxx, Beggars Union and the Platinum Players on the Bayou Stage and Seawall Graffiti, Treynwreck, John McVey, Eric Demmer, Diunna Greenleaf, John Del Toro Richardson Band, Tommy Dardar, Matthew Brodnax Band, Rusted Avenue, Mighty Orq, Brad Absher and Swamp Royale, Annika Chambers, Steve Krase Band with Trudy Lynn, Evelyn Rubio, Dave Nevling, Eugene Moody, Great Scott and the Almighties, John Egan, No Refund Band and Luther and the Healers on the Houston Blues Society Stage.

Plenty of vendors will be out offering their wares and the Festival is offering Peter’s Wildlife Reptiles and Iguana Races, Armadillo Races, the Splash Dogs and the John Strong Sideshow, featuring the Strange Girls Show (female sword swallower, fire eater, bed of nails, rubber girl) and other sideshow oddities.

Of course, there will be plenty of crawfish, catered by Swamp Shack! Also offered will be alligator, bacon-wrapped crawfish dogs, baked potatoes, BBQ, boudin, Cajun fries, Cajun sausage, Cajun smoked turkey legs, catfish and fries, chicken finger baskets and much more.

Admission is $16 for a three-day pass, or $6 for an adult one-day pass if purchased in advance. Tickets at the door will be $21 for a three-day pass and $8 for an adult one-day pass. Children 12 and under and Military in uniform get in free.

The Festival hours will be Friday and Saturday (April 10 and 11) from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday (April 12) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
